Main Purpose of the Role

Based in Bordeaux, the EU Marketing Specialist will play a crucial role in driving the growth and engagement of the Budgy Smuggler brand in Europe.

This role will encompass a broad range of responsibilities, including CRM assistance, social media engagement, content creation, website product merchandising, and data analysis. 

This role will work closely with the Global Marketing and Creative Teams to support the brand’s digital presence and sales performance in the European market (including the UK).

 

Main Responsibilities

CRM & Email Marketing:

• Execute and localise EU email and SMS campaigns using Klaviyo

• Support CRM flows, including:

• Welcome & onboarding

• Abandoned cart & browse abandonment

• Post-purchase and win-back

• Reviews, VIP and seasonal campaigns

• Assist with segmentation and performance analysis

• Ensure global campaigns are accurately translated and culturally appropriate for EU audiences.

• Identify opportunities to optimise and improve the customer lifecycle journey through email and SMS marketing.

• Share insights and learnings with the marketing team.

Social Media Ownership (EU):

• Own and manage Budgy Smuggler’s EU social channels (primarily Instagram & TikTok; Facebook where relevant)

• Develop and maintain a EU-focused content calendar

• Create, source and publish content regularly with a video-first approach

• Adapt global content for EU audiences while maintaining brand tone

• Actively engage with the community via comments, DMs and mentions

• Proactively engage with relevant creators, brands and community pages

• Stay on top of EU trends, memes and platform updates

• Track performance and share insights with the global team

Content Creation and Storytelling:

• Deliver regular storytelling content to build brand connection in EU markets

• Develop simple creative templates and video storyboards

• Execute content briefs supplied by the global marketing team

• Collaborate with influencers and ambassadors on co-created content

• Maintain consistent Budgy Smuggler tone, humour and energy across all content.

TikTok Shop (EU Ownership)

• Own and manage Budgy Smuggler’s EU TikTok Shop

• Maintain product listings, pricing and promotions

• Coordinate organic, creator-led and campaign content that drives TikTok Shop sales

• Support affiliate and creator-driven TikTok Shop activity

• Align product drops and promotions with AU and EU teams

• Monitor and report on performance (revenue, conversion, top products/content)

Website Merchandising & E-commerce Support:

• Support EU website merchandising to ensure content is fresh, relevant and conversion-focused

• Update homepage banners, collections and featured products for EU campaigns.

• Execute localised campaigns according to briefs (e.g. creation of discount sets and promotional codes)

• Assist with product launches by ensuring:

• Accurate descriptions

• Correct imagery and sizing info

• SEO-friendly, localised copy

• Highlight best-selling and new products in line with inventory and seasonality

• Flag UX issues and conversion opportunities for EU customers.

Analytics and Reporting:

• Observe, monitor and report on Paid Social Media performance for EU channels daily.

• Track social, TikTok Shop and CRM performance regularly

• Prepare simple monthly performance summaries

• Use data to inform content, engagement and sales optimisation

Additional Duties:

• Budgy Smuggler is a small business in France; you are expected to pitch in and help with day-to-day duties which include, but are not limited to:

• Picking and packing orders

• Receiving and sorting stock.

• Customer Service (emails, phone calls)

• Quarterly Stocktake

• Stay up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends and best practices.

• Attend regular team meetings and provide updates on progress and insights.

• Assist with other marketing and e-commerce projects as needed.

• Flexible to travel between France, UK, Australia (Budgy Smuggler offices) and other regions as required.

General:

• To wear Budgy Smuggler apparel when in the presence of Royalty and Members of Parliament.

• To rep Budgy Smuggler by having a good time in smugglers in various locations

• Other stuff as agreed. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Fluent in English & French (written and spoken)

• Based in EU (France, specifically)

• Comfortable owning social channels and TikTok Shop

• Degree and/or study in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.

• Experience in Digital Marketing, Email Marketing and Social Media Management.

• Understanding of the EU market and consumer behavior.

• Proficiency in using social media platforms, email marketing tools, and Shopify.

• Creative thinking with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.

• Ability to make data-driven decisions.
